Our mission is to support older adults by providing Life-Long Learning Opportunities, Social & Leisure Activities, health & Wellness Programs and Nutrition Education Services. Our core goal is to help older adults "age in place" through quality community based programs and services.

Description:
Witwer's focus is to provide innovating and dynamic programming which supports the "successful aging process". Witwer Center accomplishes this by providing older adults in the Linn County area quality programs and activities through Centers of Excellence: Nutrition Counseling, Leisure & Social Activities, Life-Long Learning Opportunities, Health Promotion and Wellness Programs, Technology Classes and Spirituality Offerings. We are implementing new and different activities by partnering with other organizations and teaming up with local businesses to expand programming to offer more of what today's older adults want.

History:
The Witwer Center opened its doors over 30 years ago to provide a place for Seniors of Cedar Rapids to enjoy social activities and hot noon meals seven days per week. The project was the vision of Maddge Phillips, community leader and volunteer. The nutrition program initially served the Witwer Center Site and has expanded throughout the years to nine other Linn County Communities. In October of 2011, the Witwer Center and Horizons Meals on Wheels partnered to provide nutrition services and healthy aging programs. In response to an increase in the older adult population and identified needs of older adults and their families, Witwer has developed and expanded programs that now serve in excess of 3,000 older adults annually.
