Bring a Smile to a Child's Face for the Holidays --Donate to United Way of Hunterdon County's Holiday Hands program
The holidays are a time when we all become more aware of the needs of so many of our friends and neighbors. It is United Way's hope to engage local businesses, organizations, schools, families and individuals to "adopt" those in need during the holidays. The high cost of living in Hunterdon County makes it increasingly difficult for low income families, elderly residents and others with special needs to make ends meet when the holiday season arrives. People served by the program request items that most would take for granted: a warm winter coat or a pair of boots, a game or a book, a new toy for a child.
Last year, United Way of Hunterdon County served over 1,500 individuals in need—a 50% increase over the previous year. This year we expect the need to be even greater. The following appreciative words express the effect this program has on its recipients… "Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for going out of your way to so generously provide us with gifts this holiday!"
Families and individuals are in need of "adoption" this holiday season. If you, your company or your organization are interested in learning more about the program and you are interested in touching someone's life this holiday season, please contact Amy Andersen at (908) 782-3414, ext. 24 or via email at amy@uwhunterdon.org.
United Way is working to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health. These are the building blocks for a good life -a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health. Our goal is to create long-lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place.
