Programs include a full range of health and wellness related programs, a full aquatics program for infants through seniors, teen programs, youth sports, day camping, outdoor sport programs, volunteer programs, and specialized individual fitness programs. We also provide school age child care at elementary schools located in Blairstown, Franklin, Frankford, Hardyston and Montague.

The Sussex County YMCA is a branch of the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges, one of the largest YMCAs in the United States and the largest YMCA in the State of NJ. The Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges consists of East Orange, Fairview Lake Camp and conference Center, South Mountain, Sussex County and West Essex branches.

Sussex County YMCA the newest branch of the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges, got it’s beginnings at Fairview Lake Camp and Conference Center in 1976. The Camp began providing special services to the local Sussex community, and by 1980 the Sussex County Branch YMCA received its charter from the YMCA of the USA.

The Metro YMCA of the Oranges, originally the Oranges YMCA, has a long history of camping in Sussex County. The Oranges YMCA began on October 15, 1885, when industrialist Samuel Colgate, revivalist Dwight L. Moody and YMCA professional Sumner F. Dudley convened a group of church leaders to charter a YMCA "for civic and cultural improvements to the Oranges". In 1916 the Colgate family donated property in Sussex County to the Oranges YMCA. The property, which is now part of the Fairview Lake Y, was added to many times over the years and now comprises of 600 acres. The ORYMCA Camp (Orange YMCA) as it was first known, served youth from beyond the Orange area, its name was changed to Fairview Lake YMCA Camps and Conference Center in 1976.

In January 1996, our Board of Directors approved a capital campaign for a full facility YMCA building in Sussex County. In May 1999, the Sussex County YMCA celebrated the achievement of raising $1 Million towards a new Sussex County YMCA to be located in Hardyston Township and built on property donated by Northwest Covenant Hospital. In August 2003, the site work for the construction of the Sussex County YMCA building began and on January 22, 2005 the Grand Opening of the new Sussex County YMCA took place.
