Enjoy an evening of excitement and fun while helping Strafford County's homeless and abused animals! Every Saturday, Seacoast Bingo Hall hosts a Bingo game, the proceeds of which benefit the animals at Cocheco Valley Humane Society. Each year, this game produces approximately 10% of our operating budget, which makes it a very important program. The game is almost entirely volunteer-run and we are always looking for new Bingo volunteers assist in counting and distributing tickets, behind the scenes office work, and a whole lot more! Volunteers are asked to commit to one Saturday evening per month. No prior experience is required, but you must have a clean criminal record and be 21 to participate. Some basic computer experience is helpful for the behind the scenes office work, but training is available. Must become a member or already be a member of Cocheco Valley Humane Society. All volunteers must commit to a minimum of one Saturday per month. To get started, volunteers must submit a volunteer application for approval and attend an orientation. This opportunity is sponsored by: Cocheco Valley Humane Society

Overall Experience

From walking dogs to office work to planning/staffing special events, the opportunities are priceless.
 |
I started out walking dogs; the exercise & socializaton helps them til they can find a forever home. When my schedule no longer allowed for that, I began working on special events -- off-site adoptions, rabies clinics, craft fair, walk-a-doggie thon, the list goes on. I've met a lot of great people, and a lot of great animals I never would have otherwise; I've always gone home feeling good about my experiences, and with a renewed appreciation for what CVHS and other organizations like them do, day in and day out. The staff and the other volunteers I've worked with are an extremely dedicated, caring group of people.
When I get home I always give a special hug to my own pets. Volunteering for an animal shelter makes me appreciate them even more. posted by donnabeaudoin on July 12, 2003 |
