Position title: Homework Help Program Coordinator
Description: We are currently seeking a volunteer Homework Help Program Coordinator to oversee and manage our Homework Help Program for the 2012-2013 school year. This is an Executive Board Position for the Hyannis Supporting Our Youth Task Force with full voting capabilities.

The Coordinator would be expected to attend Board meetings related to the Homework Help program (one large working session in July--4 hours, two info/training sessions in September--1.5 hours each, and monthly meetings Sept-June--1.5 hours each). In addition, the Coordinator would be responsible for keeping records of clients, volunteers and statistics for submission to our annual report and for future grant-writing opportunities and overseeing the day-to-day programming of Homework Help.

This program services Hyannis students in grades 4-7 with free homework assistance. We have about 30 students in the program with about 10-15 students per day. In addition, we have about 30 volunteers that help with tutoring, skill-building and recreational activities.

The program coordinator would oversee volunteers, scheduling, expectations and responsibilities for students, parents and volunteers. The coordinator would also be present at Homework Help each day (though not necessarily the entire time) to monitor progress of students and volunteers. Homework Help runs from 3-5:30pm Mondays through Thursdays from September 24, 2011 to the end of May 2013.

The overall weekly time commitment for this position would be between 8-12 hours per week and the candidate would be working closely with the Hyannis Supporting Our Youth Program Director to implement this position. This would be a great opportunity for a current college student or a recent graduate with an education or human services degree looking to build their resume experience. In addition, a retired teacher who is interested in continuing work with children in a non-school environment would be ideal. There is a strong social justice piece to this position, as we are serving a marginalized population of young people, so people interested in non-profit management, race studies, sociology, criminal justice or related fields and those with bilingual language skills (Spanish or Portuguese) are encouraged to apply.
