The mission of the Department of Human Services is to plan, develop, and implement programs which enhance the overall delivery of human services in Barnstable County, to promote the health and social well being of County residents through regional efforts designed to improve coordination and efficiency of human services, and designed to strengthen the fabric of community care available to all.

Description:
The Department is involved in several regional initiatives: the C&I Suicide Prevention Coalition, the C&I Regional Network to Address Homelessness, the Community Health Network Area (CHNA 27), the Barnstable County Health & Human Services Advisory Council. These initiatives occasionally require volunteers to assist with outreach mailings.
