Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on May 21, 2012

We are looking for volunteers to fill vacancies for Law Clerks and Legal Assistants for each semester (spring and fall). Each volunteer would be asked to commit to 4 hours, one day per week for one semester. The duties primarily include answering phone calls, conducting intake interviews, general office work including clerical work, delivery/pick-up of documents, and research and writing. Additionally qualified volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in cases, as appropriate.

Training will be based on an individual's knowledge, skills, and abilities. We are seeking volunteers who are college students or professionals with some comfort and experience answering phones and performing clerical duties, including copying and faxing. Volunteers will ideally have an interest in the law in general, and using the law to serve low-income individuals in particular. Due to ethical and professional responsibilities, we require interested persons to email us a cover letter and resume and a list of times they are available to volunteer.
