Welcome to United Way of Berks County Board Link
What is it?
Board Link, an interactive tool to help connect individuals with local board member, committee member and leadership positions in Berks County's nonprofit sector. Board Link is a new feature of United Way's website, www.uwberks.org, as a part of the Volunteer Solutions section.
Why is it important?
Berks County's nonprofit community tackles critical local issues, and successful
organizations depend on committed, capable and dependable board members to further organizational missions, develop effective strategies and achieve results that help strengthen our local community. Non-profits need individuals possessing a variety of expertise, talents and backgrounds, including experience in finance, marketing, fundraising or community leadership.
Linking the right person to the right organization -
Through the Board Link section of the United Way website and Volunteer Solutions software, individuals will be able to search for information and opportunities based on area of interest and their respective skills and background. Organizations have the ability to share detailed information and skill preferences needed to help further their mission and strategies.
It's all about partnerships -
In support of Board Link, a variety of written resource materials will be available through the website to support individuals' selection of a board opportunity. Additionally, training in basic roles and responsibilities will be developed and offered frequently throughout the community to better prepare individuals for board service.
You will need to register prior to applying for board openings -
Prior to applying for a board opening, you will be prompted to create a user log in and password - and a board profile. If you are already registered as a volunteer user, you only need to add a board profile. When your profile is complete, you will be able to contact any board or board committee position posted on Volunteer Solutions. Information in your profile is only shared with organizations you contact, to help them respond to your inquiry.
Good luck with your search & thank you for your interest in serving on a nonprofit board!
