Community Outreach Program, Arlington County DHS
| Last updated on August 1, 2012 |
The Community Outreach Program is a multicultural program promoting sustainable livelihoods and community belonging through neighborhood educational programs and services for newly arrived and low-income Arlington County residents. In Arlington, we seek a vibrant community where low income and newly arrived residents can physically and socially thrive as well as achieve economic independence. Through improved partnerships and awareness, the Community Outreach Program will be a local force giving individuals and families the opportunity to achieve self-sufficiency.
Description:
The Community Outreach Program has six outreach workers who work in community centers and apartment complexes around the county. Through a variety of programs they provide residents of Arlington with a wealth of information about services that are available to them through Arlington County Department of Human Services and other Arlington County agencies and nonprofit organizations. The outreach workers also provide opportunities for residents to attend various community events, "ask an expert" workshops, free English and citizenship classes, as well as computer access and training.
