Bring smiles to children in the National Pediatric Hospital in Hanoi April 16 - April 27, 2013 July 16 - July 27, 2013 The National Pediatric Hospital in Hanoi specializes in the treatment of children who are suffering from serious and deadly diseases such as cancer. They come from many parts of Vietnam and most of them are poor. Children have to spend a long time in the hospital and they often feel bored. An international team of volunteers will organize leisure activities such as games, painting workshops, small music and art shows, telling stories, etc. for the children at different patient rooms. Every morning the volunteers will prepare the activities, and will work with the children in the hospital in the afternoons. The volunteers will also join in some renovation works such as wall painting. We hope that you'll bring a lot of smiles and laughter to the children and we welcome volunteers who are willing to be in contact with these lovely kids. Through games and different activities, volunteers will help to distract the children from their physical and mental pain and reduce their fear of being in hospital. The work of the volunteers can help to make the stay of these children in the hospital more comfortable and enjoyable. Leisure activities: Hanoi has many historical and cultural landmarks and is a popular destination for tourists. Visiting the Old Quarter or traditional trade villages are good choices for volunteers at weekends or during free time. Many cultural festivals are held in Hanoi annually so this is a great chance for volunteers to explore the Capital which is 1000 years old.
