Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 15, 2012

The Open Door Preschool began about 37 years ago when a local family could not find childcare for their child with Down Syndrome. Since then, the school has served all children of varying abilities, socio-economic levels and ethnicities. MStation is the third of 3 schools and opened in November of 2011.
The Open Door values having volunteers to assist our teachers in the classrooms, our garden and on the playground. Volunteers offer support by playing, reading, and interacting with the children. A typical schedule would be to come once a week, about 2-3 hours per day(i.e.9:00 or 10 to noon or 1; or 3 to 5:45). Children nap from 1 to about 3.
Please read our website at OpenDoorPreschool.org

All volunteer applicants must pass a background check prior to volunteering. Open Door Preschool will pay the fee. Also, volunteers must have a tour and orientation before starting. They are not counted in the classroom ratios and are not left alone with children. We do expect that volunteers attend consistently once they start.
