Prepare and serve food at the downtown Emergency Shelter Kitchen located at 501 East Eighth Street, Austin, TX 78701. The Hours of Operation - open daily from 4:30a-7:30p. To volunteer, contact michelle_packer@uss.salvationarmy.org.

Suggested Meal Service Shifts

Breakfast 6:00am - 8:00am
or 6:00am - 11:00am

Lunch 10:30am - 1:30pm
or 11:00am - 3:30pm

Dinner 3:30pm - 7:30pm

Requirements
• Food Handler Certified-apply at statefoodsafety.com. $20.00 fee
• Complete Volunteer Application
• Background Check
• Attend Orientation
• Minimum age requirement is 18
• Maximum of 4 volunteers in the kitchen at any given time
• Must wear closed toed shoes and pants
• 2 hour minimum shift

 Located downtown, please arrive early to find parking accommodations as we do not provide any. The entrance is in the ally between The Salvation Army and ARCH building's off Red River Street. Go to the entrance found beneath The Salvation Army sign in the middle of alley, an intercom box is on the right wall, press the button, inform the ground floor desk you are here to volunteer and assistance will be provided.
