Kinetic Kids’ is hosting another Bike Camp!

This is a national bike program that teaches children with special needs to ride a bike in one week! We are looking for volunteers to help run this program!

This is a national program that has hosted camps all over the country. The goal is that children with special needs learn to ride a traditional bike in 5 days. The basis of the Bike Camp program is using adapted bikes with custom designed rollers in place of the back tire. This teaches children to balance, pedal, steer, and ultimately ride a bike. As children progress rollers each day, they work towards riding their own two-wheeled bike by week’s end. It is also key to have experienced staff in understanding the needs of children with special needs. Kinetic Kids will staff the program to provide that experience as well as ensure safety for each child. We are recruiting volunteers from the community to partner up with a child to help him or her ride the bike.

Volunteers will be partnered with a child to help him or her ride a bike. Volunteers must be at least 17 years of age and able to walk and run along side a child riding a bike. Volunteers are needed for 1hr 15 minute slots every day for 5 days during August 5th - August 9th between 9:00am - 4:00pm. We ask that you either commit to all 5 days or partner with someone to share the slot during those 5 days. Time slots are 9:00, 10:30, 1:00, 2:30. If you need a particular time slot, you can request that. Requests will be honored on a first come, first serve basis. THERE IS A MANDATORY TRAINING ON Sunday, August 4th AT 6:30 PM Location University United Methodist Church (North Gymnasium).
Volunteers be ready to observe a powerful and liberating change in a child's life, that you helped make happen!
