The Low Vision Resource Center, Low Vision Club and Owl Radio's objective is to assist those experiencing significantly reduced or total vision loss discover ways to continue daily activities and maintain their independence.
Description:
Provide Social Services to the Blind and the visually impaired. Offer monthly support group meetings and resources for the blind and visually impaired. Low Vision Club also makes available OWL RADIO for individuals who are visually and print impaired who can no longer read the San Antonio Express News. Extensive programming is offered. Members are very active in bowling. Individuals attend a monthly social event called Game Day to have fun with board games and eat dinner together. There are social events currently being planned to offer the members support and independence.
History:
The Low Vision Club was founded in 1997 by President, Bonnie Truax five years after she was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration.
