| Last updated on April 3, 2012 |
The Coalition Of Advocates For Adult Protective Services (CAAPS) enables Adult Protective Service (APS) to provide services to persons over 65 or disabled persons over 18 with needs that the state cannot provide due to state law restrictions.
Description:
CAAPS ensures that APS caseworkers have resources available to help their targeted population with items such as: emergency food pantry; pet supplies; emergency household needs: clothing, household goods, personal hygiene items and misc items. CAAPS is a coalition of volunteers who have an interest in changing the situation of abused, neglected and self-neglected seniors through action as well as words. CAAPS is providing a brighter future for everyone through awareness, action and solutions.
History:
Since 2001, the Coalition Of Advocates For Adult Protective Services has worked to help prevent elder abuse through education and awareness. CAAPS utilizes community networking to provide services to APS, who in turn provides services to abused elderly and disabled persons over 18. CAAPS also provides elder abuse, neglect and self-neglect awareness programs when requested as well as an annual educational conference or seminar.
