| Last updated on January 30, 2013 |
Alamo Area Partners for Animal Welfare (AAPAW) is a coalition of animal welfare organizations in the San Antonio area who have joined together to achieve No Kill in our city. Programs include Mega Adoption events, provide spay/neuter education and resources to eliminate pet overpopulation, community outreach to educate the public about responsible pet ownership. AAPAW is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Description:
AAPAW is an entirely volunteer-run organization and needs more volunteers from the community to assist with furthering our mission. Volunteers are needed to provide the fuel for moving committees forward to reach more of the community. There are always openings on these committees: Adoptions, Community Outreach, Political Advocacy, Fundraising/Development/Grants. Advocates are needed inside everyone's workplace to help promote the Care, Adopt, Neuter message.
History:
Just a few years ago San Antonio had the highest kill rate of dogs and cats in the Nation (over 54,000 in one year). AAPAW was formed in 2007 as part of a strategic plan to help San Antonio become a no-kill city. Since the first mega adoption event in 12/07, AAPAW Mega Adoption events have found homes for over 3500 pets and raised funds to provide life-saving emergency vet care for many injured or ill homeless pets!
