Below is a list of volunteer opportunities that Tanager is in need of right away. Starting in the spring and summer they will also be looking for help with painting projects, landscaping and creating a large garden on campus!

Also - mark your calendar for Tanager Place Summer Fest 2011. It will be on Saturday, June 4 from 3:30 to 8:30pm at the Rockwell Sports Complex. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available, from Costume/Character Rovers to Miniature Golf Assistants - and a lot more! Visit www.tanagerplace.org to register to volunteer. Contact Joan Hackbarth for more information: jhackbarth@tanagerplace.org.

In addition, if someone has another idea for volunteering, or a special talent they'd like to share, Tanager would love to create a volunteer experience that is just what they're looking for! Sports, scrapbooking, weightlifting, make-up/hair… you name it, they can set up a volunteer experience to match it! Contact Peggy if you are interested in volunteering: pmoen@tanagerplace.org.

Opportunities for Volunteers to directly help children:

KETCHUP PROGRAM: Afterschool tutoring program from 3:30 to 4:30pm, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Pick one day per week to come in for this hour as an easy and fun way to make a difference!
SCHOOL VOLUNTEER: Tutor in classrooms, grade papers, help decorate & study buddies. Weekdays between 8:30am and 3:00pm. Typically volunteers pick one day per week to come in for 1 or 2 hours and work one-on-one with a student who needs extra assistance. This can be flexible to work around your work schedule!

ART THERAPY: Help out during our art house open studio hours - Monday through Thursday from 3pm to 5pm. Art background or experience preferred.
ADOPT-A-COTTAGE: Volunteer to adopt-a-cottage and provide special events, holiday parties, craft activities, birthday parties for a cottage of 12 clients. This is more of a long-term commitment and can be fun to do as a group!
Opportunities for Volunteers to indirectly help children:

MAINTENANCE: Upkeep of grounds, painting, planting trees, gardening, etc. Can be a one-time commitment, something you do weekly, or even a group effort!

DATA ENTRY: Now through the beginning of summer Tanager is in need of someone to help enter in application data for Camp Tanager. This could be done anytime during business hours.
