Millard Public Schools (MPS) guarantees that all students learn the academic and life skills necessary for personal success and responsible citizenship in a global society by creating a world-class educational system characterized by innovative and diverse opportunities designed to challenge each student.
Description:
Vibrant, rapidly growing suburban neighborhoods have propelled MPS into one of the fastest growing school systems in the state. It is Nebraska's third largest school district. MPS includes 25 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 3 high schools, and 1 alternative high school. Volunteers work in every building with teachers and administrators to enhance the learning experience. They spend time with students in the classroom as coaching assistants for team sports, mentoring individual students, and much, much more. Volunteers are vital components in the educational process.
History:
Established over 100 years ago, MPS eventually consolidating with seven rural school districts to reach its present size of more than 35 square miles in Douglas and Sarpy counties. MPS now provides education for almost 22,000 students. Over the next five to ten years, an additional 3,000 students are anticipated.
