To prepare for emergency situations in Olmsted County, the United Way is seeking volunteers who will be trained as Phone Support or Intake and Dispatch Volunteers.

In the event of a disaster or other County emergency, these volunteers would be called on to support disaster response efforts. Potential situations include severe weather (i.e. flooding, tornado) a biological disaster, or other natural disasters.

This volunteer opportunity will include training and involvement during disaster response.

Training sessions are offered:

Monday, May 6, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Wednesday, May 8, 8:00-9:00 a.m.

Wednesday, May 15, 12:00-1:00 p.m.

This is a great role for a community member who is able to lead and work with other volunteers when they are most needed. Training will provide you with the skills you need to assist others with signing up to volunteer or receive help. This behind-the-scenes involvement in Disaster Response is important to the recovery of a community after the unexpected occurs.
