Fifteen students will present their papers in the semi-final presentations from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on February 26. Students will have 12 minutes to present their papers, followed by 6 minutes of questions form the judges. Finalists will present again from 6:30-10 p.m. Seven students will qualify to present their papers at the State Science Fair, March 30-April 1, in St. Paul. The public is invited to attend all paper presentations.

February 28-29, students will present their projects. Judges will evaluate projects based on how well students follow the scientific method, the detail and accuracy of research, and whether experimental procedures were used in the best possible way. Judges also evaluate whether or not students can speak freely and  confidently about their work. Forty-eight students will go on to compete at the State Science Fair, and two students will advance to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, May 11-17, in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Science Fair will end with an awards ceremony February 29 from 7-10 p.m. in the John Marshall High School Ilstrup Auditorium, 1510 14th Street NW. The public is invited to attend. This year's guest speakers are William Gedge who is senior vice president for the Yale New Haven Health System in New Haven, Connecticut, and Joseph Colgan, a postdoctoral research fellow with the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlow Park, California.
