Agency - Bolder Options Rochester

The mission of Bolder Options is to teach kids to succeed in all of life's races. We reach out to youth to change the trajectory of their lives. They learn about exercise, fitness, healthy choices and the importance of education and get the support they need to make the right choices.

Description:
Bolder Options is an activity-based mentoring program for 10-14 year old youth. Children are referred by a professional in the community and are generally facing a personal or family issue and would benefit from the presence of a positive adult in their lives. We match each child with an adult mentor for one year. During the course of the year, mentor and child participate in running or biking and set goals related to physical activity, community service, healthy choices and academics. Each match is assigned to a program coordinator for support and has the opportunity to attend many activities designed to assist with meeting their goals.

History:
Bolder Options has existed in the Twin Cities since 1993 and has been an independent non-profit since 1998. Since that time Bolder Options has made a difference in the lives of many youth in the Twin Cities area. Its expansion to Rochester in 2010 is the first expansion of Bolder Options outside the metro area.
