The mission of the Museum of Science, Boston is to stimulate interest and further understanding of science and technology and their importance for individuals and society. To accomplish this educational mission, the staff, Volunteers, Overseers and Trustees of the Museum are dedicated to attracting the broadest possible spectrum of participants and involving them in activities, exhibits, and programs which will: encourage curiosity, questioning, and exploration; inform and educate; enhance a sense of personal achievement in learning; respect individual interest, background, and abilities; promote life-long learning and informed and active citizenship.
Description:
The Museum of Science, Boston is one of the leading, informal science educational institutions in the United States. The Museum takes a hands-on approach to science and attracts more than 1.8 million visitors annually. Visitors, both adults and children alike, experience science in a fascinating, personal way by interacting with hundreds of permanent exhibits, frequent temporary exhibits and countless other programs offered at the Museum.
History:
We started in 1868 as the Boston Society of Natural History. We became the Museum of Science in 1949 and moved to the present location at Science Park. Over the years, the Museum of Science has grown to include a vast collection of experiences from Human Body Connections to the latest trends in science and technology.
