Volunteer Opportunity - Reading Tutor Education Related Opportunities Violence Prevention

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on January 17, 2013

We use reading tutors to advance Neighborhood House’s mission to use education to break the cycle of poverty by assisting children with their reading. As a volunteer you would help children read at least one book per afternoon and emphasize reading for comprehension (i.e. asking the child questions to see if they understand what they are reading). We use reading tutors from 3:30-7:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday

Reading tutors must be at least 14 years old and have proficient reading skills. Tutors must be patient, mature, and possess a willingness to work with children and teens. All reading tutors must perform a successful background check.
