“Y-NOW is a unique and special program whose mission statement ought to read “Y-NOW – We Save Lives.” The curriculum is unique and effective. The youth who enter this program, finish it changed and committed, never to repeat the lives of their incarcerated parent. It has been an honor to volunteer with this program.”
Adewale Troutman, Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness

“As a mentor, I witnessed the incredible impact Y-NOW has on these young people. I came to my experience through a television interview and I left … a better man. But more importantly, 23 great young minds left the program better prepared to tackle life. They’re now equipped to fly in the face of statistics in search of happiness outside of prison.”
Andy Treinen, WHAS-TV

“The experience of serving as a mentor for Y-NOW has proven to be life-changing. I sincerely believe that Y-NOW has in fact saved some precious lives.”

Alyce French-Johnson, Transit Authority River City

“I would like to think that my being a part of the Y-NOW community has benefited the group as a whole and/or maybe even a few individuals within the group, but I know for a fact that I have benefited tremendously from being a part of this family. I am a better friend, son, father, husband… I am a better man because of this community.”

Todd Clark, Clark Enterprises

Volunteers support all phases of the Y-NOW program -- youth enrollment, Departure, a 4-day camp, and Welcome Home Celebration. Our primary need however is for folks to serve as mentors – listening and providing encouragement, support, and stability so that these youth might begin to create a future that is distinctly different from the past. Volunteering with the Y-NOW program is a great way to gain insight into the lives of today’s youth and to connect with people from all over our community. Training is provided.
