Who is KAVA?

Over 30 years ago a group of Volunteer Administrators in the Louisville area got together to exchange ideas and share resources and KAVA was born.  KAVA is the local resource for the Volunteer Administrator to network, get basic or advanced training, have access to mentor and the support of others who share common goals and challenges.

Goals of KAVA

  • To promote professional standards of excellence in the field of Volunteer Administration
  • To offer education, training and support opportunities
  • To raise the awareness about the field of Volunteer Administration in the local community

Why we support each other

As a Volunteer Administrator your ethics, leadership, professionalism and sense of responsibility set the tone and allow you to successfully manage volunteers.  Field specific organizational skills, knowledge and leadership techniques are necessary.

The successfull combination of all these personal elements sets the example for and earns the respect of those who will follow you into service.  It's a LOT to attempt.  It's an exciting profession to be in and KAVA members are here for you!

KAVA members are welcoming!

You do not need to be a paid employee to be a member of KAVA.  Volunteers often lead other volunteers.  Both paid coordinators and unpaid managers of others are welcome!

KAVA can help you learn how to:

  • Provide your volunteer program with logical, legal and ethical structure
  • Rocognize the opportunity to think creatively
  • React with cautious optimism
  • Act based on the knowledge and need
  • Reflect with objectivity
  • Gain peer supervisory support for future improvement

As a trained professional in Volunteer Administration you can help others:

  • Reach their greatest potential to help others
  • Improve their personal image and health
  • Remain an active citizen of the world
  • Leave a legacy of good works and results
