Don't want to leave your dog behind but would like to volunteer and give back to the community? Become a PetPals Volunteer and you and your dog can visit elders living in a nursing home in the Boston/Brookline area.

PetPals is a remarkable program that brings the unique healing power of the human-animal bond to isolated nursing home residents. We work in cooperation with the Animal Rescue League of Boston.

We ask a commitment of 2-4 hours a month to visit either weekly or every other week for at least 6 months. A volunteer-dog screening is required to test for obedience and reaction to nursing home stressors. Dogs are required to have a physical exam and a fecal test before placement in a nursing home.

If you are driving by car from the South you would take 1-93 going North to Boston. Take exit 20, bear left at the fork in the exit ramp (Do not get on the Mass Pike) and then turn LEFT onto KNEELAND ST. If you are driving from the NORTH you would take 1-93 South to Boston and then take Exit 21 towards KNEELAND ST./CHINATOWN. You would Merge onto SURFACE RD.
