Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on June 4, 2012 |
Don't want to leave your dog behind but would like to volunteer and give back to the community? Become a PetPals Volunteer and you and your dog can visit elders living in a nursing home in the Boston/Brookline area. PetPals is a remarkable program that brings the unique healing power of the human-animal bond to isolated nursing home residents. We work in cooperation with the Animal Rescue League of Boston. To apply online: http://www.fw4elders.org/volunteer/apply-online/
We ask a commitment of 2-4 hours a month to visit either weekly or every other week for at least 6 months. A volunteer-dog screening is required to test for obedience and reaction to nursing home stressors. Dogs are required to have a physical exam and a fecal test before placement in a nursing home. This opportunity is sponsored by: FriendshipWorks, Inc.
