MCI-Norfolk is a 1400 bed medium security facility located in Norfolk, Massachusetts. MCI Norfolk treatment/program services offer its inmates the opportunity to take part in educational, treatment and reintegration programs. They include mental health, educational, religious and substance abuse programs. Presently, the volunteer coordinator is interested to locate a volunteer(s) to facilitate Alcoholic Anonymous meetings. Meetings are scheduled seven days per week with some meetings focusing on specific AA criteria (ie: 12 Steps, 12 Traditions and Big Book).

Volunteer(s) will be required to attend an orientation program that will provide an understanding of the rules, responsibilities, and standard procedures of required conduct for all individuals who enter a correctional institution.

Volunteering in the prisons has been inspiring and has deepened my spiritual llife enormously.

The Alternatives to Violence Project workshops provide experiential community building and skills in communication, cooperation, and conflict resolution. In facilitating these workshops for the last 15 years, I have profoundly experienced the power of individuals to overcome years of isolation, distrust and fear to build a community based on respect and caring.
