SUMMER 2013: HOPE'S Project Contact Summer Camp will operate during 3 two week sessions at Camp Collier in Gardner. The facility is a beautiful lakeside property that is perfect for summer fun. The three sessions are: Session 1: July 1-12 , Session 2: July 15-26 and Session 3: July 28-August 9. Camp is closed on July 4th. One-on-one mentors become a camp "buddy" to a child that needs guidance and encouragement to enjoy the camp day. The camper may be extremely shy, easily distracted or have other social or behavioral challenges. The mentor accompanies the camper throughout the day, assisting him/her in being an active and happy participant.
Mentors need to make a two-week commitment, working Mon. -Fri. either 9:00-1:00 or until end of day, 3:00, if possible.
Volunteer mentors need to be 17+, and able to make a two-week commitment to one session of your choice. Mentors need to possess qualities of excellent communication skills, patience, compassion and positive energy. You can be the person that sparks interest and enthusiasm in a child and help him/her develop self-confidence by providing encouragement and positive role modeling. Volunteer mentors must attend the mentor/tutor training provided during the last week of June.
