The Zoning Board of Appeals is a volunteer, 5-member board, that receives applications for various zoning variances and permits in accord with the Town's zoning by-law. Regular members are expected to attend all meetings. Alternates serve as voting members of the Board when regular members are either absent or not able to participate in hearing a particular matter.

Zoning Board members should educate themselves as to the Town's zoning by-laws and the State's laws governing zoning matters. There is no education requirement, but the ability to undertake this function is predicated on the knowledge of these matters.
