Develop and maintain a bi-monthly e-newsletter for our Adult Basic Education tutoring program. Write short articles profiling students and tutors, document special events, interview and solicit writing from program participants. Work in collaboration with the program coordinator and other volunteers. This position may be carried out by a single individual or a team of 2 to 4 people. Position is ongoing. Minimum 4-month commitment (2 newsletters) requested. Hours are variable and flexible. After orientation (1 – 2 meetings with program coordinator to learn about the Tutor/Mentor program and receive training on the e-newsletter system), this can be done mostly via phone and email. Occasional travel to document special events will be based on your availability. Hours will vary based on newsletter deadlines, from 0 – 2 hours in “off” months, to approximately 8 to 10 hours in months when newsletters are published.
Strong writing and editing skills; interest in meeting and learning about people with diverse backgrounds Background in marketing or public relations, print or online publications helpful but not required. Interest in education, workforce development or community development a plus. We will provide training on the e-newsletter template and orientation to the Tutor/Mentor program.
