Last updated on September 6, 2012

Therapeutic Creative Arts: Teach Arts and Crafts to small groups of women offenders at MCI Framingham. Arts and Crafts offer an opportunity for self-expression, relaxation, sense of accomplishment and self-confidence. Research is showing that creative arts are good for your heath and relationships and can help one engage in the world on a more meaningful level.

Mind/Body Aerobics: Help women incarcerated stay healthy both physically and mentally through aerobic exercise. Exercise keeps the mind and body active helping to fend off depression. Make a difference in a woman’s life through exercise

Teach incarcerated women crocheting and help them reduce stress. “According to research conducted at the Harvard Medical School Mind-Body Institute, the repetitive action of crocheting creates a relaxation response.” “The research shows that by using your mind in a certain way to elicit the relaxation response "measurable, predictable and reproducible physiological changes occur that can be useful in countering the stress response."

Relaxation through Gardening Instructor: Share your love of gardening with incarcerated women at MCI Framingham. Provide basic knowledge of any of the following: seeds, topsoil, fertilizer, mulch, planting, and irrigation, weeding and maintaining vegetable gardens. Vegetable gardening provides learning opportunities, mastering a skill and enhances self-confidence.

Experience working with small groups. Experience in one of the four areas:
Arts & Crafts, Aerobics, crocheting, gardening.
