Cambridge Family & Children's Service
| Last updated on December 10, 2012 |
The mission of Cambridge Family & Children’s Service (CFCS) is to identify and implement ways to strengthen family and individual self-sufficiency and promote conditions that provide all individuals with stable homes and possible community environments. CFCS envisions a world that works for all children.
Description:
CFCS provides a variety of programs and services to ensure that infants, toddlers, and older and often forgotten children receive the opportunity for a foster family or a permanent adoptive family; young adolescents are provided with safe, nurturing homes and the opportunity to acquire independent living skills; families who have a child with physical or mental disabilities obtain the support services they need and "at risk" youth receive social and emotional support from mentors.
History:
Founded in 1873 as the Avon Home, an orphanage for local children, Cambridge Family & Children's Service (CFCS), a private, non-profit, non-sectarian organization, is one of the region's oldest human service agencies. Today our agency has evolved into a vibrant network of caring staff, families, and community volunteers--all committed to building a brighter future for our children and families. We now serve over 1500 clients in more than 40 cities and towns in Greater Boston.
