The Vision of Cooley Dickinson Hospital is to become a national model community hospital. Our mission is to provide a core of community hospital services, collaborate with physicians, and other providers to promote continuity of care and stimulate healthy lifestyles. CDH will constantly improve access and efficiently provide quality health services.

Description:
Offering extensive inpatient and outpatient programs and services, Cooley Dickinson, a 140 bed hospital, features state-of-the-art diagnostic technology and progressive healthcare programs. With the addition of its Kittredge Surgery Center, the Hospital provides the Minimally Invasive Surgery and Robotic Program, featuring the da Vinci S® Surgical System and Greenlight™ Laser Therapy, Fast Track and emergency services, cardiovascular care, cancer care and radiation oncology, hospitalist and pediatric hospitalist 24/7 care, the Childbirth Center and the Center for Midwifery Care

History:
Cooley Dickinson Hospital began in 1886 with a bequest from Caleb Cooley Dickinson. The original building accommodated 12 patients and had one operating room. Miss Emma Castle was the first matron.

The hospital has continued to grow to meet the needs of the community. We now have over 1700 staff and over 300 volunteers. In April of 2007 we opened a new building which holds 6 surgical suites in the Kittredge Surgery Center, the Joint Center for hip and knee replacements and 32 additional patient rooms.
