The Arc is a 38 year old grassroots 501-c-3 nonprofit organization incorporated in the city of Marlboro and remains in Marlboro to this present day. Arc began as a drop in center for individuals trying to remain sober from alcohol after being discharged from detoxification hospitals. Newly sober individuals realized if they were to remain sober they would require the support of other individuals who choose to live their life abstaining from alcohol. In no time at all individuals seeking help for active alcoholism began to drop by the center to inquire about where individuals had gone to get sober. The name Alcohol Referral Center became affectionately known as The ARC Drop In Center. As years went by and illicit drug abuse spread throughout our nation, chemically dependent individuals also required substance abuse services and support. The Arc changed it's name to The Addiction Referral Center. Throughout the years Arc evolved into a multifaceted organization providing substance abuse services incorporating specialized referrals and placement. Arc provides services for 550 individuals weekly. Throughout the years Arc developed a diverse data base that include homeless shelters, detox hospitals, long term treatment programs, day programs, specialized substance abuse council for individuals and families, social services, food pantry's. The list of referrals and placements Arc provides is endless. Throughout the years the need for family support was recognized and incorporated into our services. Arc's provides a walk-in service which is a rare service in today's world. Telephone referrals and appointments are also available.
