Academy Award winner
George Clooney, a long-time supporter of United Way and a member of the United
Way of America Board of Trustees, has donated his Academy Awards®
gift bag to be auctioned off to benefit the United Way Hurricane Response and
Recovery Fund.
The gift bag, given to
all presenters at this year’s awards ceremony, contains items such as:
- a
Frette cashmere leather trimmed travel blanket,
- a Kaye Unger Kimono,
- a BlackBerry
8700c,
- a Tara cultured Tahitian pearl necklace,
- and a two-night culinary escape
at the luxurious Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley, California.
It also includes
a hand-written note from Mr. Clooney thanking the highest bidder for their
donation.
All the items come in
a Dooney & Bourke Croco Wheel Travel Bag, a one-of-a-kind style produced exclusively for the Academy
Awards gift bag recipients.
The United Way
Hurricane Response and Recovery Fund is dedicated to helping rebuild lives and
communities devastated by the 2005 hurricanes. Knowing that the rebuilding in
the Gulf Coast will take years and require
significant financial resources, Mr. Clooney offered his Academy Awards gift
bag to be auctioned off with the proceeds going to support United Way’s hurricane recovery
efforts.
The
online auction of Mr. Clooney’s gift bag will be conducted at http://www.volunteersolutions.org/ctt/qyquujmgqi.
Bidding will begin at 12:01 am ET Wednesday, March 22, and end March 28 at
11:59 pm ET. Check http://www.volunteersolutions.org/ctt/qyquujmgqi for more
details.
