Mission Statement Habitat for Humanity of West Central Minnesota works in Christian partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with God’s people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which people can live and grow into all that God intended.
Description: Habitat's goal is to provide simple, decent, and affordable homes to all families who are living in sub-standard housing. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and are financed with affordable, no-interest mortgages. Homeowner families invest hundreds of hours of their own labor in the completion of Habitat homes; a single person provides 200 hours and a couple 500 hours of sweat equity. Included in this is attending mandatory homeowners classes.
History: Habitat for Humanity of West Central Minnesota was incorporated in 1993. The founding Kandiyohi County has been joined by Chippewa, Renville, Meeker and Swift Counties. As of 2012 the affiliate has built 61 homes, completed 5 A Brush With Kindness projects, and served over 300 individuals throughout our service area!
