Our mission: To engage our community in providing food for our neighbors. It is the goal of CEFP to foster collaboration with all Coralville residents, businesses and organizations to end hunger in our community.

Description:
Coralville residents whose resources for food are insecure can get enough groceries for their emergency needs once a week. Patrons choose their own food items in amounts that vary with family size. The food pantry is open Tuesday 2-6pm, and Saturday 10:30 am- 1pm. Coralville Ecumenical Food Pantry (CEFP) is staffed and organized entirely by volunteers. Groups and individuals can get involved with CEFP in many ways: monetary donations, organizing food drives, volunteering for pantry shifts (training required), unloading shipments and stocking shelves, repackaging bulk food items, assisting with fundraising events, participation on one of our CEFP committees: Marketing, Finance, Operations, Fundraising or Volunteer Scheduling.

History:
CEFP was opened in September, 2009 by six Coralville churches in response to increasing poverty and hunger in the community of Coralville. The food pantry is a non profit 501c3 organization and is governed by a 15 member board of directors representing the Coralville community and churches. We qualify to order and pick up food from the HACAP wholesale warehouse in Hiawatha, although government funding for this source of food has been dramatically cut. We currently rely mostly on retail food purchases, monetary donations and food drives to stock our pantry shelves.
