Hope Harbor, Inc.
Lifting those in need to lives of sustainable, self-sufficiency.
Description:
Hope Harbor serves homeless and near-homeless women, children and families by providing safe shelter, meals, intensive case management and educational programs to assist residents in becoming self-sufficient. We also provide Emergency Shelter services and General Assistance to those in the community who are in need.
History:
Hope Harbor has been serving homeless and near homeless women, children and families since 1994 when it started it's mission under the name of Community Humanitarian Resource Center. In August of 2004, Hope Harbor moved into its present facility, 610 W. Division, which was then owned by St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. After a successful Capital Campaign in 2007 and 2008 Hope Harbor was able to purchase the building from St. Mary's and complete major renovations to the building. A Board of Directors manages the organization. The staff consists of an Executive Director, 2 Case Managers, an Administrative Assistant/Education Coordinator, a part-time Nutrition Specialist and a part-time Development Director. They're are also several interns and countless volunteers who all work towards helping Hope Harbor live up to it's mission.
