Culture Connect, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, goal-oriented intern for the 2009 Spring Semester.

This internship will provide a current undergraduate student with hands-on work experience in non-profit fund-raising.

The Development Intern will support the Development Coordinator and Executive Director by assisting in planning Culture Connect's annual fund-raising event. The ideal candidate will have experience or an interest in non-profits, fund-raising, research and writing, and planning and executing special events.

Duties and Responsibilities:
•Annual Fundraiser Event Preparation
o Attend Fund-raising Event Committee meetings to discuss ideas and plans for the Spring 2009 fund-raising event
o Help recruit and train event volunteers
o Assist staff, board, and volunteers in developing guest list
o Support Development Coordinator and Board members in securing decorations & items for silent auction, and planning event program and menu
o Assist in acquiring sponsorships
o Assist in event promotion activities, including writing and sending of press releases
Training is provided. Culture Connect staff will thoroughly support interns.

Required Qualifications:
•A strong interest in Culture Connect's mission to advance cultural competency and empower immigrants, refugees, asylees, and Americans in Metropolitan Atlanta through a holistic approach
•Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
•Strong interpersonal and persuasive skills
•Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
•Attention to detail
•Strong computer knowledge, including MS Word, MS Excel, and Internet research

Desired Qualifications:
•Background in Marketing, Business, and Management, however all majors are welcome to apply
•Experience in event planning and fund-raising
•Knowledge of MS Access or similar database software

Length of Commitment:15-40 hours/week, minimum 16 weeks
