Our goal is to empower socially and economically marginalized children and their families to develop the resiliency, self-reliance and the self-confidence required to succeed and accomplish their dreams.
Description:
iDream Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which provides relief assistance to underprivileged children and their families in low-income and impoverished communities in the U.S and around the world. We work primarily in the Westside communities in Atlanta and in impoverished communities in Jamaica. We aim to provide tutoring and mentoring to students on a weekly basis. Other programs involve life skills training, test prep, career and college prep, health education and food & nutrition.
History:
Our Work in Atlanta iDream Inc. serves underprivileged children between the ages of 5 -18 in low-income communities in the West Side of Atlanta, including the West End, Washington Park, Westview, Mozley Park, Vine City, English Avenue, and Bowen Homes communities. Our program activities include tutoring, mentoring, life skills training, college prep, career development, food and nutrition and health education. We currently serve over 100 children and youth in these communities. 90% of the students we serve have achieved academic success indicated by an increase in at least one grade level and 99% of the students in our college prep and career development sessions have been accepted into universities/colleges on scholarships, while others have gotten jobs or internships through our program. Our Work in Jamaica iDream Inc currently works with St. Albans Primary School in Kingston and Scotts Hall Primary School in St. Mary to provide services to children in need. We currently serve over 500 students in these schools which are located in impoverished areas in Jamaica. Helping children become literate and achieve a basic education has added to the general prosperity and development of the people in Jamaica. Future generations will be stronger and poverty will be overcome for many when children become educated participants of their communities. Program activities include providing students in need with healthy food for the school year through our school lunch program, providing back to school supplies, making school improvements, providing medical supplies for the school, and much more.
