PLEASE JOIN THE CROP HUNGER WALK on the NORTH SHORE! SAVE THE DATE - - SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2012 -- FOR AN UPLIFTING EXPERIENCE!
Step off at 2:00 p.m. with hundreds of enthusiastic Walkers, to take part in the 2012 North Shore CROP Hunger Walk. You are sure to make new friends as you follow the 5K Walk route through central Evanston and to and from the Lakefront. You will help "grow" funds for five local hunger programs: Soup at Six at Hemenway, InterFaith Action's Hospitality Center for the Homeless, the Tuesday Soup Kitchen at Second Baptist, A Just Harvest and The ARK in Rogers Park. You also aid key humanitarian projects around the world in hunger and disaster-relief. CROP Walks take place in over 2,000 communities throughout the United States, and are sponsored by Church World Service, an organization of 37 denominations.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: Save the date and bring a friend along! You'll be glad you did. Encourage your own special group or congregation to take part to conquer hunger. Walkers ask friends, family and coworkers to sponsor the STEPS that Walkers will take TO END HUNGER (5K, 3 mi.) Sponsors contribute their donations. You may help the Walk Steering Committee, serve as a recruiter for your group, or volunteer as
rest stop attendants, registrars, crossing assistants, guides, information givers, sign-makers, mailing helpers, publicity agents. Volunteers are needed also to donate refreshments, photocopying, postage, balloons, photography...
Plan to attend the annual Recruiters' Rally on Tuesday evening, August 28, 2012; you will learn about hunger needs worldwide, and benefit from helpful hints on "growing funds" successfully on Walk Day itself.

Helping 'run' the North Shore CROP Walk is open to any and all with interest in conquering hunger. No training is required, although instructions will be given to registrars, crossing assistants, display arrangers, etc.
The only limitation is that the crossing assistants at street intersections must be 18 or older.
