Native American Community Center Of Bloomington, Inc.
| Last updated on November 4, 2011 |
The Native American Community Center of Bloomington, Inc., has a two-part mission. First, we seek to improve the status and cultural survival of American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Americans in Southern Indiana. Second, we educate the general public about the contemporary reality of over 500 indigenous nations in what is commonly called the U.S.
Description:
We are a volunteer-run agency. Our board is required to be at least 2/3 enrolled American Indian, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian members. All people are welcome at our events and as volunteers.
History:
The Native American Community Center was founded in 2008 by community members and students concerned with the status of American Indians in Bloomington, on campus, and throughout the hemisphere. We achieved 501(c)(3) status in the summer of 2009, and moved into our first office in early 2010.
