Essex CHIPS is a non-profit community coalition serving Essex, Essex Junction and Westford, with a mission of "inspiring youth to make healthy choices through youth-adult partnerships and community involvement".

Description:
CHIPS employs a unique and comprehensive community-wide approach to healthy youth development. We encourage community members to become involved with our coalition by contacting us, or by joining the our monthly coalition meetings, which are held on the first Thursday of every month from 5:30-7:30pm at the Essex Teen Center. Volunteer opportunities at CHIPS exist within many of our programs including:

Middle School After School Program -- Work with youth during our after school drop-in hours as they play pool, do arts and crafts, play video games, use the computer, and hang out. Trusting, caring, and responsible individuals needed ANY day, Tuesday-Thursday, 3:00-5:30p.m. No experience necessary. Sign-up for one-day a week/month/year!

4th &5th Grade After School Program -- Work with youth during our after school drop-in hours as they play pool, do arts and crafts, play video games, use the computer, and hang out. Trusting, caring, and responsible individuals needed Monday, 3:00-5:30p.m. No experience necessary. Sign-up for one-day a week/month/year!

School-based Mentoring: We are in need of mentors to pair up with about 30 students on the wait list in Fleming and ADL schools in Essex Junction as well as in EMS and Founders schools in Essex Town. We match adults with 4th-8th graders in the schools, one-on-one. The pairs meet up for one hour a week during the school day during the school year. They play games, play catch, do arts and crafts, share, listen, laugh, and just hang out. For students, having a mentor through FriendCHIPS helps them feel supported and encouraged.

Board Sub-Committees: Interested community members can get involved with our organizations Board by volunteering on sub-committees including Programs, Operations, and Resource Development.
