| Last updated on February 27, 2013 |
Lake Champlain International, Inc. (LCI) is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation actively involved in shaping the future of Lake Champlain's water quality and fisheries. Its mission is the conservation, restoration, and revitalization of Lake Champlain and its watershed. LCI educates, advocates, and motivates to ensure that Lake Champlain is swimmable, drinkable, and fishable.
Description:
In pursuit of the mission of conservation, restoration and revitalization of the Lake Champlain watershed, LCI hosts the 30-year old LCI Father's Day Fishing Derby presented by Yamaha, which draws more than about 6,000 people from more than 30 states to enjoy Lake Champlain for the weekend. Through that marquee fundraising event and other fishing-related fundraisers, LCI is able to finance their conservation and education programs. Programs include the BLUE Certification Program, Fishing for Friends mentoring partnership, After-School Fishing Clubs, and other grass roots educational efforts. These programs encourage the current 21,000-plus LCI anglers to actively engage the next generation in carrying on the angling heritage and the conservation ethic it embodies.
