Volunteer Lake Monitors

Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council

You can make a difference by getting involved to help monitor and protect Northern Michigan's greatest natural resource: WATER. People living on inland lakes can volunteer to go out once a week in the summer to check up on their lake's water quality while at the same fitting in a little fishing or even taking a dip in the lake.

A Volunteer Lake Monitoring Training session will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 from 10:00am - Noon at the Inland Waterway Museum in Alanson. Volunteers will be trained in lake monitoring methods followed by a hands-on practicum at Ryde Marina on Crooked Lake.

Advanced registration is required. No experience is required for the training session. Those who choose to become Volunteer Lake Monitors must have their own boat or access to a boat in order to monitor the lake once a week.

For more information or to register for this session please contact Kevin Cronk at 231-347-1181 or by e-mail at kevin@watershedcouncil.orgClick here to volunteer for this opportunity.
