Library-keepers keep things tidy
Petoskey District Library
The volunteer working in this position performs basic custodial functions in the Library and Carnegie Meeting Room Building. There are a variety of functions, but none involve lifting more than 20 pounds or climbing ladders. We can accommodate interests to a degree; for example, "love to vacuum, but hate dusting".
Some examples of tasks include, but are not limited to:
vacuuming
dusting
windows
glass and mirrors
cleaning tables
polishing wood and brass
sweeping and mopping
trash removal
The volunteer in their gift of time helps to create and maintain a safe, clean, and attractive environment for the public. The community asset of the Library is thereby complimented by the asset of the volunteer.
Clean conservative-casual dress and closed toe shoes required. Volunteers are viewed as staff by the public, and safety is always key. Help is appreciated in the mornings, 8AM-12PM Monday through Friday.
We are closed Wednesdays, but still are here working on the facilities.
This is a year round opportunity.
