The Downtown Sailing Center is committed to promoting an environment of inclusiveness and accessibility, especially to youth, persons with disabilities, and those with limited opportunity.

The Downtown Sailing Center is a non-profit organization that needs volunteers to achieve its mission. Volunteer membership is open to everybody, no sailing skills are necessary!

Benefits of becoming a DSC volunteer member include:

Becoming part of a close-knit sailing community
Training in sailing, power boating, boat repair, and effective communication
A chance to give back to youth, persons with disabilities and those with limited opportunities

Volunteering is open to high school students and adults. There are evening, weekend and summer opportunities.

History:
The Downtown Sailing Center (DSC) was founded in 1993 with 4 boats and a dozen members. We became a non-profit a few years later and haven't looked back since then. The DSC outreach programs have grown since 1998 - when the DSC had 200 at-risk youth go sailing with us for the first time - to over a 1,000 per summer since 2008.
