Shopping Assistant -Volunteers are paired with a client and help them make selections of food items in the pantry. This can be very rewarding for both the volunteer and the client. The average volunteer works, 1.5 to 2 hours, one day a week. However, any amount of time is appreciated. For this assignment, a volunteer will shadow another volunteer, who has done the job well. The new volunteer will start their service only after they feel comfortable doing so. Warehouse Assistant- Volunteers sort, label, stock pantry, clothing boutique, or freezers. They maintain an organized environment. The average volunteer works 1.5 to 2 hours per, one day per week. However, any amount of time is appreciated. The volunteer will be given specific instructions, and will have the ability to ask questions and add suggestions.
Volunteers should be able to stand for long periods of time, be independent thinkers, and show confidentiality, respect and dignity at all times. Training is provided on the job. This opportunity is sponsored by: The Emergency Assistance Center
