Volunteer Opportunity - Volunteer Mentor

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on July 21, 2014

The Esperanza mentoring program is aimed towards developing positive relationships between youth and adults to assist students in achieving their academic, professional and personal goals.

Esperanza is looking to expand its mentoring program so that more of our students are connected to adult mentors who aide them in school and life. A mentor offers their time, assistance, and advice. Mentoring occurs in the form of relationship building, positive experiences, and fun activities. Mentors and mentees are able to set their own meeting times around their schedule. The Mentoring Coordinator also assists in setting meeting times and events.

Successful mentoring relationships have resulted in students being more aware of their education and career opportunities, increased self-esteem, and developing long lasting relationships with positive adult role models.

Please go to http://www.esperanzainc.org/support_us/volunteer to download the Volunteer Application and learn more about the Volunteer Program. On the application, please state you are interested in the Mentor position.

• Complete & submit the Volunteer Application, resume & personal photo, sign the Volunteer Standards of Behavior form, and attend an orientation/training
• Pass a background check
• Commit to the asked time commitment: 4 hours per month for 1 year
• Mentors should have obtained or currently be pursuing a college education or post-secondary training
