Holy Family Hospice invites you to become part of our hospice care team as a Vigil Sitter. Vigil Sitters are compassionate people willing to provide bedside companionship to patients in private homes and long-term care facilities. Vigil Sitters also provide needed respite to family members or peaceful presence to those who have no one to be with them in their final hours.

Training will be provided, scheduling is flexible and a variety of
locations are available so that you can serve close to your home for just a few hours each month. You choose the days and times you can serve.

Volunteers are required to complete general hospice training, followed by specialized training for vigil sitting. On the job training will allow you to become at ease in your role with the support of hospice staff and experienced volunteers. All patient service volunteers must submit to a criminal background check and annual Tb testing at no cost to the volunteer.
